The pain of rain
It’s been raining very seriously everyday for 4 straight days in Lagos. ‘Cats and dogs’ don’t adequately describe the intensity of these rains i’m talking about. ‘Lions and wolves’ seems more like it. I was “fortunate” enough to get caught up in the rains one way or another everyday. Two days ago, I went for a meeting at Victoria Island, Lagos and was drenched in the rain. I laughably took the BRT which was fine until I got down at CMS. It was as if the rain had been waiting for my feet to touch the ground from the bus. It came pouring down with a fury. It didn’t help matters either that I was on an okada.
I tried to come down and hide under some form of shelter but it was useless. I then just determined to keep going till I got to the office my meeting was holding at. I was angry at the rain. Why did it have to fall just then? After all, it wasn’t raining all the while I was in the bus. Why did it allow me to board and okada before it came pouring down. It should have started when I had not boarded any vehicle. I was pissed. At the meeting, all the ACs had to be shut down because I started shivering once I got to the place. I couldn’t even sit down still. I just kept pacing up and down the office while my host, the MD/CEO of that organisation kept expressing his sympathies.
Maybe I was so angry because I got beaten by the rain the day before while trying to get out of the car to block someone at his office who was supposed to give me a check. I got wet for no reason because he was not ready to give me the check that day. Can you imagine? It wasn’t like i didn’t go there with a car o. The day before that day, I still got wet. I took a stroll from my office to a client’s office on the same street as my office and the rain saw me and attacked me again and though I had an umbrella yet again, I was soaked to the skin.
Anyway, on this day I went for my meeting at Victoria Island, I got back to my office asking myself. “Busayo, why are you angry at the rain?” “What if it’s symbolic?” “Is there something God is trying to tell you?” “Is God about to rain blessings on your life?” “Is He trying to point out that no matter where you are or how protected you are or how assuming you are, He will suddenly cause a drenching rain of blessings to come upon you?”
Why are you complaining about the rain? How will the crops grow if the rain doesn’t fall? How the earth be watered? How will the cycles of the season be completed if the rain doesn’t fall?
Some people are going through very cloudy and rainy seasons in their lives at the present. Everytime they make a move, they end up getting embarrassed like I was at my meeting. No matter whether it’s a big or small move, they get pained by the rain. Why should rain come with pain? Maybe such people should begin to look at the purpose of the rain. It could be that they are about to enter the time of abundance of blessings. In the Bible, the Holy Spirit came the apostle like rain would (with the sound of a mighty rushing wind). God refers to rain as a symbol of His outpouring of blessings on his people (the latter rain).
But be warned also, the only time the earth and the life that was on it was ever destroyed, it was destroyed by rain. God caused rain to fall to destroy all living creatures on earth. Maybe God is warning you to take heed before His wrath or judgement is poured out on you like rain. Maybe God is also sending the same message to the earth (the world) and its current inhabitants. ONE DAY! I WILL SEND MY RAIN OF JUDGEMENT AND WRATH ON THE EARTH. ONLY THE RIGHTEOUS WILL BE PRESERVED.

Hmm…..I hear the sound of the abundance of rain. It’s a deluge of God’s blessings.
Remain gratefully expectant. Ciao!

Bro…
I know exactly how u feel after being drenched by the rain. I’ve been there, I’ve done that. I also learnt that no matter what happens under the rain, we don’t have to complain. Only God knows why. Just like Jesus had the power to save Himself from being crucified on the cross but He didn’t because He had a wider and special purpose for all human being. The same way also, God has the power to stop the rain for only you (do you believe this?) but He had a wider and a special plan for you, myself and others that might have faced this experience…All the best
